How to avoid fall damage in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

While it is no surprise that an open-world Zelda game has fall damage included, learning the best ways to get around that in the game can really open up new paths and adventures.

There are some more traditional routes that you can take to avoid fall damage that have been purpose-built into the systems, but there are also a few additional tricks that you can pull out to really make things interesting.

There are a number of ways that you can avoid fall damage, with some being more complicated than others. Make sure to continue reading below to see all of the different methods that you can use:

Paraglider

The main tool that you will use to avoid fall damage in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is of course the paraglider. This tool not only allows to you soar across vast areas, but pulling it out just moments before you land will break your fall and negate any damage you might have taken.

The main thing you have to be careful of here is stamina consumption, as you will not be able to whip out the paraglider if your stamina wheel is empty. Always ensure that you save a tiny amount of stamina if you're gliding across a significant distance, as it will always ensure that you're able to break your fall.

Water

Falling into water is the next most common way that you can avoid fall damage in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and is certainly your most useful method before you're able to obtain the glider.

No matter what distance you glide from, falling into a pool of water will mean that you take no fall damage and remain unscathed by the drop. This is very helpful when diving from the Sky Islands, and can save you in a pinch if you're unable to pull out your glider.

You will need to be considerate of where you drop into a body of water though, as you'll still need enough stamina in order to swim to the shore. Furthermore, some freezing or fast-flowing streams can actually be really dangerous and should be avoided even if they will still break your fall.

Fast Travel

While not an ideal solution, you can use fast travel to get yourself out of a situation that would otherwise leave you dead. All you need to do is open up the map when falling and fast travel to an eligible location and you will be saved.

Of course, this means that you won't reach your intended destination, but it is a good last-second alternative you can use if you run out of other options and want to avoid death.

In order to get the no fall damage armor in TOTK, you must upgrade all components of the Glide armor set to level two through the Great Fairy Fountains dotted across the map.

Here's what you'll need to do in order to get each of the three pieces of the Glide armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom:

Once you've found all three pieces, you will want to head to the Great Fairy Fountains that are dotted across the map in Hyrule and start to upgrade the armor set. In total, you will need the following ingredients to upgrade all pieces to level two:

• 150 Rupees
• 18 Aerocuda Eyeballs
• 15 Keese Wings

Equipping the fully upgraded Glide armor set will then prevent Link from receiving any fall damage, which is perfect if you're feeling dangerous and allergic to your glider.
