The bread and butter of an arcade shooter is the landscape in which the guns shoot within, so it's only natural that the XDefiant maps and game modes showcase all of the personality that Ubisoft has to offer.

Taking inspiration from other games that the developers have worked on and tying it in with typically entertaining shooter game modes, here are all of the maps and modes players can expect to see XDefiant.

How many maps are there in XDefiant?

At launch, and as seen in the XDefiant Closed Beta, there are 14 maps available to play, some of which you will likely have seen before.

All maps in XDefiant

  • Arena
  • Attica Heights
  • Dumbo
  • Echelon HQ
  • Emporium
  • Liberty
  • Mayday
  • Meltdown
  • Midway
  • Nudleplex
  • Pueblito
  • Showtime
  • Times Square
  • Zoo

Players familiar with Ghost Recon will recognise Attica Heights, Far Cry fans will notice Liberty, and there are plenty more familiar settings in XDefiant that Ubisoft loyalists will remember.

Some of the maps seen will be limited to certain game modes, with linear maps being held to the below Escort and Zone Control modes.

How many game modes are in XDefiant?

There are five game modes in XDefiant at launch, most of which take inspiration from modes that we've seen in other arcade shooters like Call of Duty and Overwatch.

  • Domination
  • Occupy
  • Hot Shot
  • Escort
  • Zone Control
  • Team Deathmatch

Ubisoft has confirmed that LTMs are in the pipeline too, although details on their exact models are yet to be confirmed.

All XDefiant game modes

Domination

The classic shooter experience can be found in Domination, where players will capture objective points and aim to hold them, with points awarded on a tick basis for however long they stay in your control.

Occupy

Occupy is XDefiant's equivalent of Hardpoint from Call of Duty, where rotating objectives will spawn in different locations across the map, where teams will race to be the first there and then look to hold down the hill for as much time as possible.

Hot Shot

Hot Shot is a Team-Deathmatch-y as it gets with XDefiant, where players will drop tags after they die, and players who have collected points then need to take them to the bank.

Escort

This game mode is straight out of Overwatch, where attackers and defenders will take turns escorting a drone through the linear maps, hoping to drive it straight through the heart of their enemies.

Zone Control

Again, played on linear maps, this game mode is somewhat similar to Domination, in the fact that there are multiple objectives to capture and hold, but it comes with a twist where pressure and persistence can be key, but also your downfall if you let a sneaky flanker slip through the net.

Team Deathmatch

As it says on the tin, this is your typical deathmatch mode. The first team to reach 100 kills collectively will take home the win.

That's it for our breakdown of all the XDefiant game modes and maps. Now, you just need to find the perfect Faction for your play style.
