We are now in a period for the games industry where everyone wants a slice of the Nintendo Direct pie. There’s no doubt that the format utilised by Nintendo is a popular and effective one, with its formal presentations delivering one great announcement after another. So, it’s no surprise that PlayStation wanted its own version of the event.

State Of Play is PlayStation’s answer to the Direct, and frankly, it’s a pretty great twist on the formula. They often expand on the hidden details and first looks of upcoming titles in a concise way and give fans of the company to get the lowdown in one sitting. Lucky for them, then, that a new State of Play is coming very soon, and should offer some great insight into some upcoming games.

When Is The Next PlayStation State Of Play Conference?

The next State of Play is coming on Thursday 8 2021. The news was announced by PlayStation on their official Twitter page, citing “this Thursday” as its launch date. The presentation will be taking place at 11:00 UK time.

On the PlayStation blog, Senior Director of SIE Content Communications Sid Shuman offered more insight into what the upcoming State of Play will address. He states that there’ll be a nine-minute look at Deathloop, the upcoming PlayStation exclusive title by Bethesda. It also comes with some details on some indie and third-party titles - but one mention has already disappointed fans.

The conference will not be addressing the next God of War title, Horizon Forbidden West or anything to do with the next step for PlayStation VR. This State of Play is exclusively for indies, third-party titles and a closer look at Deathloop.

It might not be what many were hoping for, but there are rumours that we’ll get the first look at the suggested Dead Space remake here, so it’s almost made up for.

Even when some announcements are deconfirmed, these press conferences are always exciting regardless. We can’t wait to see what this State of Play turns out, and we’re excited to get our hands on whatever PlayStation will be flogging to us next.
