You'll likely be incredibly excited to equip the black symbiote suit in Spider-Man 2 (and wield the Venom powers it possesses), but you won’t be able to do so in the opening hours of your adventure.

Fret not, though as you'll get the chance to become a symbiote-infused web-slinger with extra abilities to play with in the game eventually - so let’s dive right into how to unlock the black symbiote suit and its Venom powers in Spider-Man 2.

SPOILER WARNING: This guide contains major spoilers for the events of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

How to get the black symbiote suit & Venom powers in Spider-Man 2

You’ll unlock the black symbiote suit and gain its Venom powers in Spider-Man 2 by playing through the story up to the main campaign mission,Good Men” - taking about six to seven hours of gameplay if you spend little to no time invested in side activities.

This happens towards the end of the mission, where Peter is stabbed by Kraven and ends up moments from death.

Then, to save his life, the symbiote - currently with Harry as its host up until now - switches to Peter, merging with him in the form of the Black Suit costume. Right away, the next combat encounter will start against more Hunters, allowing you to try one of the Symbiote Suit’s powerful abilities: Symbiote Punch.

All the while, you’ll also have active the “Symbiote Surge” ultimate move - increasing the power of each attack to not only more quickly dispose of regular enemies, but to punch through shields and the hulking defences of brutes as well.

Once you’re back free to explore the world as you start the “The Flames Have Been Lit” story mission, you’ll now have access to the left section of the Peter Skill Tree which focuses on symbiote powers.

If you want to make the most of Peter’s new powers against waves of more Hunters in combat, I say you should definitely unlock the first two new skills: Symbiote Strike which then unlocks Symbiote Yank - the latter being fantastic for crowd control.

That’s everything you need to know about how to unlock the black symbiote suit and Venom powers in Spider-Man 2
