How to play Private Matches in THE FINALS & all available modes
Private Matches - one of the most frequently asked for features - is finally available in THE FINALS. Now, you can hop into a match with just your friends to mess around and experiment with the sandbox or compete for bragging rights.
This primer details how the game's brand-new Private Matches work and everything you need to know before hosting one in THE FINALS.
How to play Private Matches
Click to enlargeWhen you go to select a mode in THE FINALS, there is now an option for Private Matches. From there, you can create a Private Match, or you can join an existing match by entering a Lobby ID.
Private Matches in THE FINALS are still rather primitive, so you can't adjust the settings or rules, pick a map, or even assign players to teams. Instead, players who join Private Matches together get automatically designated to the same squad, and if players trickle in individually, teams are determined based on the order contestants entered the lobby.
Finally, as you might expect, you cannot earn XP or unlock achievements in Private Matches. They're only for fun!
What modes can you play in Private Matches?

Is there a minimum number of players required?
Click to enlargeTo start a Private Match, you need at least six players, and they can host up to 12 players altogether.
Embark Studios has emphasised that this initial release is a barebones version of Private Matches, and they plan to expand the tool throughout Season 2 and eventually add more options and features. Private Matches in THE FINALS are extremely basic right now, but it's the start of something bigger!
