How To Age Up In The Sims 4
Ageing up sims in The Sims 4 can be done a few ways. You can simply wait for your sim to age up themselves or age them up quicker by hosting a birthday party in The Sims 4. To learn how to host a birthday party and age your sims up, read on.

You can set your sim's life spans to short, medium, or long in the gameplay settings. Sims will naturally age up, and you'll be notified when this is due to happen a day before.
You can age your sims up anytime, however, by making a birthday cake and having them blow out the candles. This will automatically age them up into the next life stage (unless they are already an elder).
Make sure you place the birthday cake in the centre of a table so your sims can reach it. Also remember to add birthday candles to it automatically before sims have a chance to take a piece, as once a piece is taken from the cake you can no longer add the birthday candles on to it.
Now have your sim either 'Make A Wish' or 'Blow Out Candles' and you're all set. If you're ageing up a toddler, you'll have to get an adult sim to help them blow out the candles by selecting the option to do so when clicking on the cake.
To cook a cake, it is under the 'Cook' menu on a stove, rather than the 'Bake' option.
Babies cannot be aged up this way, rather, you have to wait three in-game days until the baby is ready, then click on its crib and select the 'Age Up' option.

How To Have A Birthday Party In The Sims 4

You can also host a birthday party for your sim. Click on your phone, then choose the option 'Plan A Social Event' to bring up the drop-down menu of options. Next, you can select a birthday party and hire caterers, mixologists, and entertainers to perform at the party. A party is a goaled event, which means you'll receive prompts to complete for the chance to win rewards.
If a sim ages automatically without a planned event or cake, they will receive a sad moodlet for a forgotten birthday.
