If you're wondering how to get Tactical Pets in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 following the most recent update, we've got all of the details you'll need about the requirements you'll need to add man's best friend to your next game.

For the first time, gamers can now get and use animal companions in their MW2 and Warzone 2 gameplay, with Season 5 introducing these new Tactical Pets. This is a new feature that allows Operators to bring a furry friend with them into combat.

Below, our primer will explain exactly how you can get Tactical Pets and use them in the game - so let's get into it.

How to get a Tactical Pet

Right now, the dog, Merlin, is the only Tactical Pet available in MW2 and Warzone. To get Merlin, you must purchase the BlackCell premier Battle Pass upgrade for Season 5.

BlackCell will set you back at approximately £25/$29.99 - but you do unlock Merlin instantly, so you don't have to grind through a bunch of Tiers to equip the pup.

While Merlin is the only Tactical Pet available to start, this is just the beginning of Pets in MW2 and Warzone. Look for additional Pets to appear in the Store via Bundles and standalone offerings

If we're lucky, perhaps Infinity Ward and Raven Software will include Pets as free rewards in some of the game's limited-time events!

What are Tactical Pets?

Tactical Pets are companions that loyally follow you into battle in Multiplayer, Battle Royale, and DMZ modes. Pets can't be hurt, either, so you don't need to worry about putting your furry friend in harm's way!

When customising your Operator, you will be able to assign a Tactical Pet to your Operator. A Pet will walk alongside you in the Lobby, but in-game, you carry them on your back. If you want your Pet to fight with you, you must also equip their associated Finishing Move separately.

While serving as a pacifist sidekick, your Pet will alert you when you get spotted by an enemy. But if you ever manage to execute an opponent with a Finishing Move, your Pet will do the dirty work for you, ripping the foe to shreds on command.

So that's all you need to know about Tactical Pets in MW2 and Warzone 2. For more on all things CoD, check out our Call of Duty homepage here at GGRecon.
