The more advanced you get in Rocket League, the more time you spend in the air. It's a natural progression cycle that has eaten its way into the core of the game, and now its mobile spin-off, Sideswipe. Manipulating the ball away from your opponents in the air sets you up for success, and the best way to do this is by getting to grips with how to spin and Air Roll in the game.

How do you spin and Air Roll?

In order to air roll, you will have to double-tap the joystick in the direction you want to spin whilst airborne. This will spin the car until you take your hands off the joystick.

Learning to spin and air roll is much easier than it is on the console. Whereas the standard game will allow controller players to bind directional rolls in a third dimension, the flatter Sideswipe variant only has one bind for its air rolls.

Unlike in normal Rocket League, it is simple to air roll in Sideswipe, but arguably just as important to master if you want to be landing on all four wheels rather than be turtle’d every three seconds.

What is spinning and Air Rolling?

Much akin to how air rolls work in the console version of Rocket League, the Sideswipe version allows you to juggle the ball effectively in the air and get your car into position for the perfect touches towards the goal.

Whether you want to pinch it off the ceiling, use your wheels for a flip reset, or fake a shot on goal and go for the bump, air rolling is the ultimate way to keep control of the direction of your Rocket League Sideswipe car.

Whether you're a basic player looking to make sure your aerials have a smooth landing, or a flamboyant player who likes tricks and flicks, the air roll in Rocket League Sideswipe is one of the most important skills to master.
