How to remove bounties in Starfield

If you get into trouble with the law in Starfield, you'll need to know how to remove bounties and clear your name. There are some different methods you can use to do so, including paying a fee or doing your time.

Bounties may prevent you from doing certain things in the game, so it's best to get rid of them as soon as you can. Here's every way we know of to remove bounties in Starfield.

How do you remove your bounties in Starfield?

There are a few different ways to remove your bounties in Starfield. We've listed them below.

• Pay a fee
• Go to jail
• Offer a bribe

The easiest way to remove bounties in Starfield is to pay a fee. You should be able to find a Bounty Clearance Kiosk in any of the game's major cities, such as Neon and New Atlantis. You can usually find these Kiosks near where you land your ship or on the main path leading to the city.

Interact with the Kiosk and you'll be prompted to pay a fee. However, you won't be able to clear your bounty if that bounty is from a faction that currently controls the system you're in. You may need to do some travelling to find a working Kiosk, and the cost will depend on how severe your crimes are.

You can also just do your time in jail. Doing this will reduce your XP from your current level, but you can't lose levels entirely. Any stolen goods or contraband will be confiscated and placed in a chest inside the jail building.

Finally, you can potentially pay a bribe to avoid your bounty, but this can be expensive and risky. Having skills like Negotiation and Charisma will help you persuade guards if this is the option you want to take.

What are bounties?

When you commit crimes in Starfield, you will receive a bounty if you get caught. The more crimes you commit, the higher your bounty becomes.

This bounty will be placed by whoever currently controls the system you're in. If you commit crimes in New Atlantis on Jemison, the bounty will be a UC bounty as that faction controls the system Jemison is in.

Bounties may prevent you from doing certain quests or joining factions. The best way to avoid this is simply not doing any crimes, but if that doesn't sound like fun you can clear your bounty using the methods above and you'll be good to go.
