Of all the things Fortnite does right - adopting a charming cartoony aesthetic, breakneck pace, and some of the tensest moments in competitive gaming - the one that the battle royale title is most well-known for is its wide array of cosmetics.

The huge array of Fortnite skins began as the game launched, and as the game has connected with a multitude of intellectual properties to bring back bling, gliders, and emotes to Fortnite - but most important to the in-game flex are the Fortnite skins. Full-body cosmetics dominate the game, showing off original characters and licenced characters alike and allowing players to engage in dream battles and decide once and for all if The Mandalorian would wield a fishing rod better than Batman.

It’s a great feature for the game, and of course, they’ve made the most of it, as there’s an incredible amount of Fortnite skins. But how many are there, exactly?

According to a long list accrued by progameguides, it appears that Fortnite has upwards of 1,080 skins to date, accumulated over the game’s long life cycle. This is up 283 skins since it was reported in July 2020 by bestgamesettings that there were 797 Fortnite skins, including these rare skins.

It’s no wonder that Epic Games are still absolutely rolling in cash since the drop of Fortnite, as this huge number of skins (most of which are paid extras on top of the game itself and its battle pass) are easily the most lucrative part of the game, easily keeping Epic’s lights on. Whether it be their own characters or much-requested licensed characters, Fortnite’s roster of skins has helped the game to remain relevant and, quite frankly, remained funded.

If they keep the game going then, by all means, keep them coming. It certainly wouldn’t hurt them to add a Samus Aran skin either, but maybe that’s just our wishful thinking.
