One of the best ways to travel in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is by getting your hands on a Chocobo, and once you do, you’re going to need to know how to deck them out so that they look great – so we’re here to show you how to get your hands on some Chocobo Gear, as well as the Golden Plumes you’ll need to pay for them.

Whether you’re racing to get to some picture-perfect vistas, or fleeing from a battle in the game, dressing yourself and your Chocobo is pivotal to reflect the tone and aesthetic of your team.

As you explore each region of Final Fantasy 7’s vast map, you’ll come across Chocobo Ranches, and this is where you can get your hands on the bulk of the new Chocobo Gear.

The Chocobo Ranches can be found in the following areas:

  • Grasslands
  • Under Junon
  • Costa del Sol
  • Gongaga
  • Cosmo Canyon
  • Nibelheim

You can also earn new Chocobo gear through certain quests, like the Merc Chocobo Gear from 'The Hardest Sell' side quest in Chapter 4, or by finding more of Piko's Greens in Corel Prison in Chapter 8.

Once you’ve got your gear, you can change it at the Chocoboutique like the one in the image above.

How to get Golden Plumes in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To get Golden Plumes in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’re going to need to restore Chocobo Stops. You’ll find these along the roads and can be used as fast travel points once they’re repaired.

Golden Plumes are used to pay for your Chocobo Gear in most cases, so it’s always worth stopping to fix up a rundown Chocobo Stop.

When you’re approaching a Chocobo Stop, you’ll run into a Baby Chocobo who will lead you the rest of the way. Once the stop is restored, it will drop a Golden Plume for you as a reward, as you’ll see above.

Now that you’ve got your Golden Plume, remember to give the Baby Chocobo a gentle pet and be on your way to the next adventure.
