EXODUS: Become the Traveler was first announced, and shown, at the 2023 Game Awards, and although there isn’t too much information surrounding the game, we’re going to dive into everything we know so far.

One of the most exciting aspects of the game is the appearance of Matthew McConaughey, who is voicing a character that will "have a unique relationship with every player".

At the time of writing, there is no launch date for EXODUS, so while we won’t be expecting it anytime soon, after the first trailer, it’s hard not to get excited about Archetype Entertainment’s maiden game.

What platforms will EXODUS: Become the Traveler be on?

So far, EXODUS is only releasing on current-gen platforms, so this includes:

  • PC
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S

The game is likely a while away, so there are always chances this could change, but it seems unlikely it will launch on the previous generation of consoles or the Nintendo Switch.

EXODUS: Become the Traveler trailers

The first trailer for EXODUS: Becom the Traveler is purely cinematic, but offers a good inkling of what we can expect from both a narrative and gameplay perspective. During the trailer, there's plenty of shooting due to a conflict with a group called the Celestials whom humanity appears to be at war with as humankind searches for new planets to settle.

So far, it seems like a traditional spacefaring game with an emphasis on exploration, but the trailer also mentions how time works differently when travelling through a gate because of light speed.

We don’t know whether this is just a preface to the story and helping to understand why the protagonist is out of time, or a proper mechanic you get to play with, but I hope it plays into the story and gameplay - it could be what helps the game stand out.

The second trailer is where it becomes hard to not make comparisons between EXODUS and the 2014 film Interstellar, particularly because of the aforementioned time situation. For the most part, the second trailer is more of an extended version of the first one, but we get a better understanding of the world and the conflict with the Celestials.

That's all we know so far about the upcoming EXODUS: Become the Traveler, and we can’t wait to see more.
