How to activate Good Boy Protocol & pet the mechanical dog in Destiny 2
As of Destiny 2's Season of the Seraph, it's possible to meet and adopt an Exo dog stranded all on its lonesome. Don't leave this pupper alone any longer! Follow the instructions outlined below to activate the Good Boy Protocol and pet the mechanical dog.
Where is the mechanical dog?
The mechanical dog is behind a mysterious door in Operation: Seraph's Shield. However, opening this door is a complicated task with a lot of moving parts.
To open the door, you must find and destroy 50 Security Drones spread throughout the Sol System. But before you can start, you must complete Operation: Seraph's Shield and craft the Revision Zero Pulse Rifle. Furthermore, you will need the Security Clearance Upgrade.
Click to enlargeOnce you're all set, you must traverse the Destiny 2 Sol System, finding and destroying all 50 Security Drones. There are 12 on Europa, 12 on the Moon, six in each Heist Battleground, and 12 inside Operation: Seraph's Shield itself. After destroying all 50, you will be able to open the door leading to the mechanical dog.
The door you must access is in Operation: Seraph's Shield. You will find the door just past the hanger after you complete the spacewalk portion of the Mission. The door is in the same room where you confront and defeat Haroktha, Scourge of the Helium Drinkers.
After opening the door, you will need to use Tactical Armour or a Sword with Eager Edge to bypass a series of lasers. Next, interact with the Access Console and solve a quick puzzle to unlock a transmat area.
Complete the puzzle by shooting the symbols on the walls and head through the freshly opened door to travel to the Maintenance Substructure.
Navigating the Maintenance Substructure requires platforming skills combined with trial and error. Navigate through the complex Maintenance Substructure until you come across a previously unlit room with an abandoned mechanical pup waiting patiently for some love.
Activating Good Boy Protocol and petting the mechanical dog
Approach the mechanical dog, and you will notice an option to Activate Good Boy Protocol. Activate Good Boy Protocol when you first meet your new four-legged friend, and you will receive the Guardian’s Best Friend Triumph.
After sharing a moment with the Exo dog, it'll disappear. But don't worry! Take a trip to the H.E.L.M., and you will find it waiting for you atop a blanket and some pillows. Activate Good Boy Protocol again to pet the mechanical dog and unlock the Yes, You Can Pet the Dog Triumph.
