Modern Warfare 3 is here, and many of you might be wondering if the game offers crossplay and cross-progress functionality. In MW3, the crossplay feature enables you to play with players using different gaming platforms.

Similarly, cross-progression allows you to use the same account for every version of the game, across consoles and PC. Here is everything you need to know about crossplay and cross-progression in Modern Warfare 3.

Does Modern Warfare 3 have crossplay?

The short answer is yes, Modern Warfare 3 fully supports crossplay. As a result, you can play with your friends on different platforms and devices. All you need is an Activision ID that you can create with a CoD account. Your Activision ID will allow you to join up with your friends regardless of where they play.

Unfortunately, while you can disable crossplay on console, you cannot do so on PC. In the previous game, MW2, crossplay could be turned off on PlayStation and Xbox, but not on PC.

How does cross-progression work?

Call of Duty players will be glad to know that Modern Warfare 3 also supports the cross-progression functionality, similar to its predecessor. As previously noted, this feature gives you the freedom to continue your online progression across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.

However, it’s important to understand how exactly this feature works. Since game progression is stored on your Activision account, Modern Warfare 3 requires all players to log in to an Activision account when playing online in order to support cross-progression.

Therefore, before you can play for the first time, you will be prompted to sign up for or log in to an Activision account. If you create an Activision account to participate in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Beta, you can use that account again.

If you choose to use a different account, you will not be eligible to receive bonus content for participating in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Beta on that account.

Please note: Your progress will not carry over if you choose to link your PlayStation, Xbox, Battle.net, or Steam account to another Activision account.
