Spirits are one of the main combat mechanics of Black Myth: Wukong, allowing you to briefly take the form of a previous enemy or boss and perform their signature attack, while also gaining a useful passive bonus.

You'll pick up a lot during your time playing, so it's a good idea to check which are the most useful without having to experiment with all of them.

Best Spirits

Tiger's Acolyte

My personal favourite and a highly powerful Spirit move is Tiger's Acolyte. With this, you charge up a sword slash and dash forward as you hit, dealing high damage to anyone in the way. It also features a passive buff to your critical damage, which is perfect for high-crit builds.

You can earn this by defeating its namesake in chapter two. Once you find the Crouching Tiger Temple, make your through it, past the pool of blood, and travel toward the Windrest Bridge Shrine.

Continue through Windrest, to the Hamlet Shrine. Make your way across the small bridge, and then you will find Tiger's Acolyte on the next bridge, leading toward the cave.

Falcon Hermit

The Falcon Hermit is good for Frost-based characters, with the passive boosting this status's damage. The move sees you summon a gust of wind that travels forward for a few seconds, dealing damage multiple times and freezing enemies hit a few times.

If you can follow the path and knock enemies back into the wind consistently, it's an easy way of clearing mobs.

To get this you'll need to get past the Pagoda Realm in chapter three and follow the mountain paths until you arrive at the temple for the second Macaque Chief fight.

If you turn left at the foot of the temple steps, and follow the path up the hill until it turns right, you'll find the Falcon Hermit with the Spirit in a closed-in area.

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang is great against groups of enemies. You'll turn into a giant frog and lash out your tongue from side to side three times, before hitting it upwards. It also grants you a reduced Stamina cost for jumping and jump attacks.

You can acquire this during the first chapter. Follow the main path until you reach the Snake Trail Shrine. Take a left from the shrine, into the wooden building and jump down into the steam.

Take another left and jump up the rocks into the large, shallow pool covered with reeds. Walk forward and the boss will come out to fight.

Civit Sergeant

For the damage fiends, the Civit Sergeant is a powerful Spirit. Firstly, the passive grants you a damage increase which can be invaluable. The actual move itself is a ranged, dual-blade throw that deals high damage and can also stagger enemies in the way.

It's worth noting the move gets off very quickly as well, so you can perform it without worry of being knocked out of the move.

You can find this at the Crouching Tiger Temple in chapter two. After defeating Tiger Vanguard, interact with the pedestal up the stairs to open the stairway that leads underground. Follow the tunnel and you'll find a group of Civit Sergeants, with one of them dropping the Spirit.

Earth Wolf

This Spirit gives you the form of an Earth Wolf and lets you dash forward, dealing large amounts of damage and staggering the enemies, giving you a window for more damage afterwards.

The passive is also super useful for longer fights, allowing you to gain more Focus per hit.

You can find this during chapter two, at the Sandgate Village. You'll need to make your way around the back, as the main gate is closed and blocked with archers. Just fight the Earth Wolf to get his Spirit.
