You have three Spell slots and a Transformation slot in Black Myth: Wukong, but with roughly seven spells to choose from when playing, it may be worth learning which are the best of the best to make combat a breeze.

Best Spells

Immobilize

The first and arguably most powerful spell is Immobilize. This takes up the Mysticism slot, and frankly, you won't want to replace it due to how useful it is in a tonne of situations across the game.

It lets you freeze an enemy in place for a period, so you can damage them until either the timer runs out or you break the effect, which can lead to some extra bonuses.

You can use perks to increase the length of the effect and the damage you deal, and there's even a Relic later in the game with the Spread the Word perk, allowing you to Immobilize multiple enemies at once.

Against bosses, it provides a valuable way to get in tonnes of burst damage quickly, and pairs especially well with A Pluck of Many if you can time them together.

Rock Solid

Rock Solid is an Alteration spell from chapter two, that I recommend using over the first spell you can get in this slot, Cloud Step. While both have their strengths, Rock Solid edges out the other with its extra utility.

While you can use Rock Solid to just negate damage from big attacks, which comes in handy for bosses with long attack chains or power moves, it also works as a parry, especially when you upgrade it with additional perks.

Time a Rock Solid right and you can parry a blow, stagger the enemy, cancel out of the move, and then get in a follow-up attack for a powerful combo.

A Pluck of Many

A Pluck of Many summons some Wukong clones for a short period, who can help you out in a battle by attacking the enemies and providing a distraction. It takes up the Strand slot.

The Spell is one that really benefits from the additional perks in the skill tree, as you can extend the length of the effect in multiple ways, the health and damage of the duplicates, and even grant them the ability to use their own spells.

In fights where you're outnumbered, you can turn the tide. In boss battles, it gives you the utility to back off and recuperate or go all-in with damage.

As I said above, it pairs well with Immobilise, as you can freeze an enemy and then have your entire monkey gang wailing on them for big damage. I managed to trivialise some bosses with this move.
