Although Belly Drum has been around in the Pokemon franchise since Generation 2, this move that maximizes a Pokemon Attack stat - at the cost of half its HP - has been really taking off in Scarlet and Violet. That's because it turns out Belly Drum is a fantastic addition to Azumarill and Iron Hands movesets to use in high-star Tera Raids. So, here is how to get Belly Drum in the game.

How to get the Belly Drum move

Levelling Up

Unfortunately, there is no TM for Belly Drum in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. That means you'll have to get Belly Drum through other means. Thankfully, Belly Drum can be acquired by leveling up for three Pokemon: Makuhita at lv. 25, Hariyama at lv. 26, and Iron Hands at lv. 84.

Alternatively, Zangoose can also learn Belly Drum through the Remembering Move feature that can be accessed in each Pokemon's Summary.

Egg Moves

If you want Azumarill to learn Belly Drum, however, there are a few extra steps involved. Along with breeding, Azumarill can learn Belly Drum by holding a Mirror Herb. While its standard effect is the item holder getting to copy the stat boost of an opponent Pokemon, the Mirror Herb's In-Depth Effect allows it to be a speedier alternative to learning Egg Moves compared to breeding.

To use this effect, first, you need to delete one of your Azumarill's current moves to free up a moveset. Then, whilst having another Pokemon with Belly Drum in your party - like Iron Hands or Hariyama - and start a picnic. Once you complete said picnic, your Azumarill should have the desired Belly Drum egg move in its empty move slot.

If you want to know what other Pokemon can learn Belly Drum as an Egg Move via the Mirror Herb technique, check out the full list in Serebii's Belly Drum Attackdex entry
