Learning how to respec in Baldur's Gate 3 is vital if you want to reset your class skills at any point and rebuild your character with a new subclass, spells, class actions, feats, and much more.

Building a character in Baldur's Gate 3 can be hard at first, as you won't know what works well in the game and which abilities will be the most useful in later situations. Luckily, there is a Baldur's Gate 3 respec feature that makes it really easy to change class or quickly make alterations to your class build.

So, read on below for the instructions on how to respec in Baldur's Gate 3 and learn how to reset class skills.

How do you respec?

To respec in Baldur's Gate 3, you will need to speak to a character at your camp called Withers and pay them a fee in gold to reset your class.

Withers is an undead skeleton mage of sorts that will randomly appear at your camp after you've done a few Long Rests there. We don't know exactly what the criteria are for making Withers appear, but you'll notice them in camp if you check every time you rest.

Once they appear, if you speak to them, they will offer their services to you, which allows you to summon hirelings or use the Baldur's Gate 3 respec option to reset your class skills.

Select the dialogue option "I want to change or reset my class" and for 50 gold, you will be able to select a brand-new class or reset your current one back to level one.

Afterwards, you can go through the levelling-up screens again to choose a new subclass, cantrips, spells, actions, feats, and whatever class bonuses you receive from your specific class.

For any subsequent respecs you do, it will cost 100 gold; it's worth making sure you are careful about what choices you make upon levelling up so you don't spend all your gold resetting your skills.

What's more, you can also respec your companions in Baldur's Gate 3, so you aren't entirely stuck with the choices you make when levelling them either.

That's all for our primer on how to respec in Baldur's Gate 3, and now you know how to perform a class skill reset so you can level them up again and make new choices.
