Do we know the Baldur's Gate 3 release date?

To the surprise and delight of pretty much everyone, the Baldur's Gate 3 release date has been pushed forward four weeks to August 3, 2023 on PC, and September 6, 2023 on PlayStation 5.

This is outstanding news for everyone who is excited for the full release, regardless of whether they've picked it up in early access or not, as it means that we can experience the full game practically a month earlier than we otherwise were expecting.

Some classes are still completely missing from Early Access, and it’s more than likely some races won’t be seen until Baldur’s Gate 3's full release. For example, within the game’s code are tags and hints towards various exotic races (Aasimar, Dragonborn and Genasi). There’s still work to be done, adding all of these new features as well as developing background lore will take time.

Are there any Baldur’s Gate 3 trailers?

There have been numerous trailers released for Baldur's Gate 3 since its initial cinematic reveal over four years ago, detailing various aspects of the game and showcasing the stunning graphics.

Most recently, there were two trailers revealed at Summer Game Fest 2023, with the first being a general release trailer for the game, showcasing what you'll be able to get up to and the general framework of the narrative.

Furthermore, there was also a 'Return to the City' trailer shown specifically at the PC Gaming Show in 2023, which features clips of the development team discussing how they built this iteration of Baldur's Gate, which will be of particular interest to anyone who has played the first two games.

While the series has traditionally existed on PC, Baldur's Gate 3 is making the jump to console too, which you can see in the platforms listed below:

  • PlayStation 5
  • PC (via Steam, GOG, GeForce NOW)

Wondering about Xbox? So are we! Baldur's Gate 3 is slated to come to Xbox Series consoles at some point in 2023.

The holdup is due to the Series S struggling with the game's local co-op gameplay, and Microsoft has wanted to maintain parity between versions. After a meeting with Phil Spencer, though, it appears the game will come to Xbox Series X|S - but without split-screen co-op on Series S.
