If you’re curious about Hirelings in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially regarding how to find and recruit them, we’ve got the important information here.

As is the norm with anything related to Dungeons and Dragons, character deaths can be a heartbreaking situation, and this game is no different in this regard. If you fail to revive a character in combat, that’s a permanent loss. Death can also occur based on poor decisions in dialogue, especially if your companions become bloodthirsty.

This is where Hirelings come in - temporary party members that can fill in any roles you deem to be missing in your party. Here’s everything you need to know about Hirelings in Baldur’s Gate 3, including how to find and recruit them.

It will cost you some Gold to be able to recruit Hirelings in Baldur’s Gate 3, so make sure you collect the necessary funds before speaking to Withers. Each Hireling will set you back 100 Gold, which can easily add up the more you recruit.

That’s everything you need to know about Hirelings in Baldur’s Gate 3. Hopefully, you will be able to utilise this feature to further enhance your party for specific combat scenarios.

Hirelings are unlocked when you meet Withers, a Skeleton NPC that you can meet in the Dark Crypt during Act 1. This location can be found during the Explore the Ruins quest, which is unlocked if you explore the ruins near Emerald Grove.

Upon completing this area, Withers can be found in his tomb, but you will first need to defeat a small battalion of revived Skeletons to reach him.

After talking to him, he will introduce himself and shortly head to your camp. Here, you will be able to respec your character, and upon reaching level 3, recruit hirelings to join your ranks.

Hirelings don’t have the same level of interactivity compared to the standard companions, but they can prove useful in combat. Twelve Hirelings are available in Baldur’s Gate 3 - one for each class in the game. This allows you to fill in the gaps when necessary.

It is also worth mentioning that these Hirelings have a preset name and race, so overall customisation is limited.
