Assassin’s Creed is returning after a three-year hiatus, and with the constant reinvention of the franchise, Mirage will offer something a little different - including an open world that's a little different to what came before.

The last three Assassin’s Creed games have had some of the biggest worlds we have seen in gaming, featuring Greece, Egypt and England. But with the popular series returning to a more condensed, urban setting, Mirage features a smaller, denser area.

The game focuses on stealth, just like the original, leaving some of the more RPG-heavy influences behind in favour of a shorter experience. Assassin’s Creed Mirage follows Basim (who was first introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla) when he was a young man in Baghdad on his journey to becoming an Assassin.

With that said, let’s take a look at how much of Baghdad will be an open world just waiting to be explored in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Will Assassin's Creed Mirage be open world?

Yes, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will once again feature a rich open world for players to explore and enjoy. as they follow Basim’s younger years. If you bounced off the last few games' colossal playgrounds, though, you'll be pleased to know the city of Baghdad is more concentrated than the most recent RPG-style offerings like Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla.

The reference points discussed before launch included Paris in Assassin’s Creed Unity. This will be great news for some, who have grown increasingly frustrated with the size of recent Assassin’s Creed games, which in truth can be quite daunting.

Is it a good open world, though? For the answer to that, you'll need to check out our Assassin's Creed: Mirage review.

That is everything you need to know about the open world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and if you can’t wait for the next Assassin’s Creed game, be sure to check out everything we know so far.
