Hunts add an exciting new twist to the Apex Legends Battle Royale formula. There have always been Hunters and Prey in Apex Legends, but the Inner Beast Collection Event emphasises the natural order of things.

This primer details where to find and how to use Hunts in the game's latest Battle Royale takeover, The Hunt.

What are Hunts?

Hunts in Apex Legends Season 20: Breakout are datapads that reveal the location of your newly assigned Prey Squad, who you can eliminate for in-game rewards during the limited-time Inner Beast Collection Event.

These are not to be confused with Hunts, the co-op PvE encounters from The Broken Ghost Season Quest that were available in Apex Legends Season 5: Fortune’s Favor.

Hunts are available in non-Ranked Battle Royale matches, meaning you can find them on Storm Point, World's Edge, and Olympus during the Inner Beast Collection Event.

Hunts appear randomly throughout the map and look similar to Ally Respawn Banners. You can activate Hunts at any time, too!

When you grab a Hunt, you'll be assigned a Prey Squad. Your job is to track down the opposing players in the Prey Squad and eliminate them before the contract expires. You'll receive intel on their location, but when you get within 70m of their coordinates, the Prey Squad gets a warning that you're close by.

If you manage to successfully kill off your Prey Squad, you'll receive a helping of goodies, including Med Kits, Shield Cells, and even Supply Drop Weapons. However, if the Prey Squad fends off the Hunters or the Hunters fail to kill their Prey in a reasonable amount of time, the Prey Squad will reap the rewards of the Hunt!

That's the basics of the brand-new Battle Royale takeover: The Hunt. Secure Hunts and stalk your Prey Squads for top-tier rewards, but if you're not careful, you might become the Prey!
