Whether or not Warzone Ranked will actually revive the Call of Duty battle royale is an unknown entity. Could it flop like Fortnite's Arena mode, filled with sweat buckets even in the lowest of ranks?

Or, could it finally transcend Warzone 2 to be a competitive title in nature similar to how Apex Legends' arc has been? Who knows. But, one thing is for certain, if you were scared of playing Ranked due to hackers and cheaters. Well, Call of Duty is cracking down on them hard.

In a bid to work alongside Ricochet and avoid hackers, players will have to physically qualify to play Warzone Ranked.

The developers themselves have confirmed that Warzone 2 Ranked will only be open to players that are at least Level 45, meaning new accounts cannot play.

"With the launch of Ranked Play (BETA) in Season 03 Reloaded of Warzone 2.0, our goal is to deliver a competitive and fair system of play, all while striving to ensure a consistent experience across all Battle Royale modes," said Call of Duty in a recent blog post.

Warzone 2 Ranked adds hacker-defence qualifications

According to the popular Call of Duty account ModernWarzone, it takes roughly 20 hours for a player to achieve Level 45.

This is intended to serve as a deterrent for hackers, as they will have to grind casual matches on new accounts if they get banned by Ricochet, which should crack down on repeat offenders.

The hope is that Ricochet can take care of all the pre-existing Warzone hackers and that the 20-hour qualification deterrent will be enough to keep them from returning. It should keep them at bay for a while, but will this be the permanent fix we need? Probably not.
