You Have To Escape An Evil Thomas The Tank Engine In Choo-Choo Charles
Spider-Train, Spider-Train, there's no escaping the Spider-Train. Just when you think you've seen every imaginative horror game there is, along comes Two Star Games with Choo-Choo Charles. If you thought being stalked around a pizza joint by anthropomorphic animals in Five Nights at Freddy's was out-there, that's nothing compared to Choo-Choo Charles.
Picture the scene, it's late at night, and you're out on the tracks. A cold breeze blows in, as the tale of Choo-Choo Charles rings in your mind. The murderous train that's a cursed Creepypasta who will chase you with his spider-like legs. Can you survive the night and reclaim the tracks from this demonic locomotive?
What is Choo-Choo Charles?
Every so often, Steam spits up a corker. Described as an open-world horror, Choo-Choo Charles gives us some serious Resident Evil vibes. Ironic when you remember someone modded Thomas the Tank Engine's face onto Lady Dimitrescu.
No one knows where "Charles" came from, but he's something of a local legend. He clambers off the track and wants to "eat the flesh of puny humans". Part spider, part train, it's up to you to board your own train and hunt him down across this doomed land.
Armed with a small yellow train and a map, your battle tank has a mounted machine gun and that's about it. As you complete missions for locals, you earn scraps to upgrade your little chugger's armour, speed, and machine gun damage. Planning your route across the island, you'll have to step off the relatively safety of your train to clear obstacles or change tracks.
The description reads, "Upgrade your arsenal, and (hopefully) become an unstoppable force, ready to take on the great and mighty Charles." Consider us sold. Since Two Star first announced Choo-Choo Charles, the game has gone viral and looks like it'll soar to the top of Steam when it releases.
When is Choo-Choo Charles out?
Two Star has previously worked on free horror names like Night in Riverrager and My Friend is a Raven, while they're also worked on Cloud Climber. Choo-Choo Charles is something a little different and looks like it'll hit that sweet spot between familiar titles and WTF.
You can currently wishlist Choo-Choo Charles on Steam, with a release date of Q1 2022. We've seen some great video game villains over the years, but away from Albert Wesker, Bowser, and GLaDOS, a crawling spider-train is possibly the most imaginative.
Choo-Choo Charles was presumably born from the idea of Stephen King's Charlie the Choo-Choo book and the fact players won't stop modding Thomas the Tank Engine into everything from Cyberpunk to Skyrim.
