Xbox’s big 'Company Update' last week showed not only that Twitter is very good at overreacting, but also that a brand new era for the company is about to unfold.

The console wars once hinged pretty heavily on console exclusivity for games, but it seems that Xbox is loosening its grip on its precious titles. Phil Spencer revealed that some Xbox games would come to other consoles, and though Xbox fans clutched their pearls, it indicated the start of something very new for Microsoft’s gaming arm - and though there were no confirmations offered, rumours pointed to a few games that would lead the charge.

And now, Nintendo’s offerings have officially been revealed.

Grounded and Pentiment are coming to Nintendo Switch

As a part of today’s Nintendo Partner Showcase, it has been revealed that two of the games rumoured to be making the jump from Xbox to other consoles - Grounded and Pentiment - are set to come to the Nintendo Switch.

Grounded opened the showcase revealing that the live-service garden explorer would be touching down on the console, while Pentiment appeared towards the backend of the presentation, in a move that has shocked fans, without much fanfare.

Of course, this is big news for Xbox fans rather than Nintendo users, so it makes sense that the reveals didn’t carry with them the gravitas that we know it does, but it’s certainly nice to know that they’re coming. The excitement doesn’t end there, though, as it was revealed that Pentiment will be made available to Switch users tomorrow, meaning that they won’t have much time to wonder what comes next.

Xbox’s offerings to the Switch don’t end there, though.

The end of the Partner Showcase presentation revealed that a whole slew of Rare games are coming to Nintendo Switch online, including the SNES’ Battletoads in Battlemaniacs and Killer Instinct, the N64’s Blast Corps, and the NES’ Snake Rattle N Roll and R.C. PRO-AM.

It’s a shocking addition given that Rare is under the watchful eye of Microsft’s gaming company, but it’s telling of Xbox’s willingness to let go of the games under its wing and find new (and in this case, old) audiences. Xbox fans on Switch, you’re eating good today.
