On July 2, Xbox Live went down and none of us were sure what to do. With servers down and us unable to play our favourite games, what were we supposed to do, go outside, talk to our loved ones, stare into the abyss?

Microsoft confirmed a massive outage, with Xbox Live going down for over six hours. The official Xbox server status confirmed that sign-in services were facing a "major outage," with a later update confirming the "investigation is taking longer than expected." After things finally came back to normal, fans think an unlikely hero could be responsible.

Snoop Dogg is the hero Xbox needs

There are plenty of celebrity gamers, but few are as passionate as Snoop Dogg. The famed rapper has appeared in everything from Madden NFL 20 to Call of Duty: Ghosts, and regularly jumps into Warzone to try and 'smoke' his enemies. It makes sense, considering he's got a skin in the shop.

When the Xbox servers went down, posts went viral about gamers calling on Snoop Dogg to bang on Phil Spencer's door. In 2016, Snoop caught headlines when he delivered an X-rated rant on Instagram when the same thing happened.

Back then, he raged, "Ya'll f**king server is f**kin' whack, man. Y'all going to make me switch to PlayStation if y'all don’t ever get this sh*t fixed. Is it that difficult to play someone online?" He ended it by warning, "What the f**k is you doing, Bill Gates? Fix your sh*t, man!"

This was followed by a second hilarious rant in 2020 over issues with EA. This time, he took to the internet and fumed, "EA Sports, y’all muthaf**kin' server is down! Get that sh*t back up, we trying to play. Bunch of muthaf**kas at home that's locked and loaded right now, FIX THIS SH*T!

"Bill Gates, Microsoft, whoever the f**k. All these muthaf**kin’ bullsh*t ass vaccines y’'ll trying to give us… fix the muthaf**kin’ video game. Now!" The 2020 server issues were fixed less than 30 minutes after the Doggfather posted his clip, so maybe he has some magic powers.

The latest incident saw fans flooding to X (formerly Twitter) and calling on Snoop to post another of his viral rants. One joked, "@Xbox don't let snoop go to PlayStation, lock in," while another added, "Yo where snoop rn we need him to get mad at Bill Gates to fix Xbox Live." It seems many weren't in on the joke and assumed Snoop's previous videos were from July 2.

It doesn't seem that Snoop has posted about the July 2 outage, but then again, maybe he doesn't need to. If the servers had stayed down any longer, we imagine he'd be on Spencer's doorstep. As we head toward the July 4 weekend, we're sure the servers are going to be under some serious strain, so let's hope this was a temporary hiccup.
