"The bots are back in town" - Thin Lizzy 2076. Warzone disposed of AI bots back in 2023 when Al Mazrah and those pesky Strongholds were left behind, or that's what the Call of Duty franchise would have us believe.

But somehow, Warzone players are reporting that the bots are back, just disguised as actual players in the recent release of Modern Warfare 3 Season 5. While there's a lot new in Season 5, some think the devs have tried to hide bots beneath WWE crossovers and gnarly finisher moves.

So-called "bots" are few and far between in Call of Duty nowadays, with the series having been out for so long that the majority of people know how to point and shoot.

But already in Season 5, sceptics are reporting that actual bots have replaced that collection of not-so-good players and are populating lower-tier lobbies.

Twitter user "Speros_OG" claimed to have come across at least one bot in their latest excursion to Urzikstan, finding an enemy player who could not sprint or refused to shoot the user. Testing this out, they didn't even react when Speros jumped straight in front of their lens.

"There is no way this is a real player," they said. "Felt like I was fighting the jug in the Blacksite with how he started blasting me when I shot him."

This wasn't the only circumstance in which they found this player, and the suspicions of their legitimacy continued to grow. "Fought him in the Gulag the same game and homie turned to where he took damage even though it's impossible that I could be back there. This has me even more convinced that this is indeed a Bot," they added.

Others were stunned by this low-level player as Season 5 also looks to be "stacked" with full squads getting about the new Atlas Superstore POI. The evidence does look rather sceptical, although it could have been Sal and the Impractical Jokers crew, too.
