Warner Bros. Officially Delays Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Update: It's official, Rocksteady has delayed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to 2023. Studio head Sefton Hill announced the news via Twitter.
If you had any hopes of waking up on Christmas morning in 2022 and unwrapping a Harley Quinn baseball bat to go alongside the new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League title, you'll have to think again as Warner Bros have played the Joker card. Following in the footsteps of many of their other film-related titles that have been postponed, Warner Bros have reportedly delayed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League until 2023.
Shortly after reports that Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter-inspired games that will il-lumos-inate the magical minds of their avid fan base, has been delayed, Warner Bros appear to be up to their usual tricks by pushing Harley Quinn onto the backburner.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Reported To Be Delayed Until 2023
Mumblings of a Suicide Squad delay first surfaced last week when Warner Media CEO Jason Kilar took to social media to tease fans about their upcoming year of "exciting" game releases, including logos of Hogwarts Legacy alongside the anticipated Gotham Knights Batman title - notably missing off the Suicide Squad logo. Despite the game falling under the studios of Rocksteady (the developers behind the Batman: Arkham trilogy), fans became concerned that another Warner Bros. delay was inbound.
They were right.
According to Bloomberg, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been "silently" pushed back until 2023.
The title that will pit the quirky band of DC rebels against beloved heroes like Superman was previously set for a 2022 release, having seen a glimpse of gameplay at Gamescom.
Rocksteady will be hoping that the delays to their title will allow them more time to master every nook and Killer-Croc-infested cranny of the title, as it prepares for a new-generation exclusive release. Continuing the story of the Arkham trilogy, last updated in 2015, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be their chance at reviving the franchise with fans eagerly anticipating getting to grips with Captain Boomerang as Braniac takes over the minds of the most powerful heroes in the Arkhamverse.
More time can only help the studios though, who will be looking at avoiding any Cyberpunk 2077-esque catastrophes.
