Ubisoft Promises Ghost Recon Frontline Is Different Other Battle Royales

With the wealth of battle royale games in the world, it's a wonder how Ubisoft are going to make Ghost Recon Frontline standout from all the big names out there. However, the team at Ubisoft Bucharest has shared how the upcoming massive PVP shooter game will be from the rest.

How Is Ghost Recon Frontline Different From Other Battle Royales?

In an interview with GamesRadar, Ghost Recon Frontline’s brand director, Stefan Marinescu, gave a little more detail about the game: "It’s very important to understand how we are different. Battle royale is a genre. It’s not like we're very far away from it, but we are different in many ways. We are free to play, indeed, but we are a tactical, action, massive PvP shooter, that's what we want to call it. It's our own, very personal take on this massive PvP shooting scene that’s done in the Ghost Recon universe."

Ubisoft certainly has been keeping itself busy at the moment. Following on from the release of Far Cry 6, Ubisoft has a number of projects on the go, including a new open-world Star Wars game and, apparently, its very own theme park. With this in mind, it's a wonder that the Ubisoft team has any time to spare to make Ghost Recon Frontline at all. 

Ghost Recon Frontline: What Do We Know So Far?

There's no word from Ubisoft about a release date for Ghost Recon Frontline just yet. However, the live stream during which Ubisoft announced the upcoming game, provided fans of the Tom Clancy game franchise with a little bit more information about what's to come. For example, gamers will primarily be playing in a 102-player Expedition mode similar to that of Escape from Tarkov and Warzone. In expedition, players will be in a group of three and will have to complete tasks across the large open-world map of Drakemoor Island to gather intel.

For players who can't wait to make a start of the game, the first Closed Test version of the game will be available in Europe on October 14, 2021. 

However, despite the mountain of projects that Ubisoft are currently producing, it seems that the team is positive that Ghost Recon Frontline will be a unique and enjoyable game. Towards the conclusion of the interview, Marinescu said: "We are very happy with where we are in that we think the players will really enjoy the military authenticity type of customization that we prepared for them.”
