Not that we needed to warn you, but The Witcher could be in serious trouble. Despite the Project Sirius multiplayer problems, we mean the live-action arm of the Witcherverse instead of the video games. With the panning of Blood Origin and the imminent departure of Henry Cavill from the main series, Netflix could do with a win.

With the first half of The Witcher Season 3 having just premiered, and setting up the transition between Henry Cavill and Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, fans have been tuning in just to see how we handle the change. Unfortunately, there's some bad blood, as The Witcher Season 3 review paint a grim picture for Season 4.

The Witcher Season 3 gets frosty reception from fans

The Witcher's loyal fandom is less than impressed with the whole Cavill situation, and with the show's lead reportedly being upset with how the show was handled, swirling rumours claim he's wanted out for a while. Even as The Witcher looks to the future, viewers aren't letting it forget the past.

Over on MetacriticThe Witcher Season 3 has a pretty dismal rating of just 2.5/5. It's important to note this is just from the fans, with critics awarding it a much higher 70/100. Still, a bang-average half marks from casual viewers is coming from a very specific angle.

Reading the reviews, you understand why The Witcher Season 3 is being review bombed. One scathing review says, "Truly awful. This shouldn't come as a surprise as the first two seasons were bad as well, but their failure to learn from them only makes this even worse.

"As usual Henry Cavill is the best part, but he is constantly pushed into the background of his own show in favor of fan-fiction tier changes to the other characters and the story. A mess, and further proof that Netflix doesn’t have any sort of quality control in regards to their original programming."

Another adds, "I love the spoiler alert option THERE IS NO SPOILERS WRITERS SUCK, Gerald is represented perfect but the story SUCKS," while a third concludes, "Geralt good, but everything else sucks. Stop Netflix, stop with your **** please."

The Witcher is already planned for Season 4 and 5

There was plenty of hate aimed at showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, as someone even wrote, "Crap from LSH. Only for masochists or people with low requirements regarding the level of entertainment." Looking at previous seasons, The Witcher Season 1 earned 7.5 from fans and Season 2 landed 3.9.

The Witcher fans are proving to be tough customers, but even before we knew Cavill was out, the figures were already dropping. Who knows what the fan reviews will be for the upcoming Season 4, however, we guess it'll be a bloodbath. Good luck to Hemsworth.

While we know The Witcher Season 4 is already on the way with Hemsworth in tow, there are confirmed plans for Season 5. Cavill was once all-in on a seven-season plan, but given the backlash facing the writers, having lost Cavill, and Season 3's panning, we just don't see it happening.
