The Internet Explodes With Starfield Leaks

While Bethesda is known for exploring all sorts of dystopian worlds with the likes of WolfensteinFallout, and The Elder Scrolls, it's clear there's a whole galaxy out there thanks to the upcoming release of Starfield. With the acclaimed developer delivering some of the best video game franchises of all time, there's obviously a lot of attention being thrown Starfield's way.

Looking at what could be a truly next-gen game is sure to be a big Bethesda blockbuster for the ages. The problem is, we know literally nothing about Starfield. Thankfully, the internet has been flooded with seemingly legitimate Starfield leaks that give players a first real look at the sci-fi spectacular.

What are the Starfield leaks?

Some rough sketches that are apparently from the Bethesda Content Deliver Network have started doing the rounds online. Here, we see concept that looks like it's been pulled from an Alien movie. As well as a futuristic spaceship design, there's a colony set against the backdrop of two different suns. The big talking point is a wristwatch design, that features the same UI previously revealed to be part of the game.

For those who've played the Fallout games, you'll know the Pip-Boy wrist attachment served as the HUD where you can customise weapon attachments and manage inventories. Interestingly, the sketches show a massive variety of ships, which further fuels the fire that vehicles in Starfield will be massively customisable. Interestingly, the artwork comes alongside Bethesda releasing an official survey asking players how much time they spend customising their character, home...and spaceships!

Do the Starfield leaks point to a release date?

The images first started doing the rounds on the sketchy ResetEra, before being pulled and making their way onto Reddit. Considering there are no public assets on the CDN, it would be hard to fake all of the above. Then again, we've been fooled by Starfield leaks before. Earlier this year, "screenshots" of Starfield gameplay made their way online but were debunked by critics who said they came from a game called Myrdalssandur, Iceland.

There are continued claims Starfield could have a surprise release this year, which would almost certainly make it an Xbox exclusive following Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media. Naysayers have pointed out that Starfield was first announced at E3 2018 and has barely made a sound since, which would make a 2021 release unlikely. Whatever Bethesda and Microsoft have planned, you can bet your bottom dollar that Starfield will be taking flight at this year's E3. A 2021 drop might be a little hopeful, but then again, stranger things have happened!
