Spyro 4: Mystery of the Dragon teased for October reveal
We were truly lucky that we got to see Crash Bandicoot again. The N-Sane Trilogy made way for the marsupial's full return to the gaming industry, and he made his home where he belonged with a fully-fledged fourth instalment in his core franchise. For the most part, it actually managed to live up to its past.
Even though Crash and his mates are on a bit of a live-service kick with Crash Team Rumble, there's no doubt that his return was welcome. Ever since, fans have been wondering when everyone's favourite purple dragon would get the sequel treatment after a successful series of remakes. The time could finally be here.
It looks like a Spyro sequel is coming
Oh my god, it's happening. The GamingLeaksAndRumours has reported that there's a brand-new Spyro game on the way, slated for a release trailer that will supposedly launch on October 5.
If the leaks are to be believed, Spyro's long-awaited return is reportedly titled Spyro 4: Mystery of the Dragon and will be a direct sequel to the classic third game. It will reportedly launch on Xbox, PS5 and PC in the fourth quarter of 2024.
It is also suggested that we're getting a Rift Apart situation, with separate story modes for two different characters of Spyro and Cynder - the latter of which will be entirely playable.
The game is expected to be fronted by Nicholas Kole who was responsible for the character and environment design of the recent Spyro and Crash games, so we could be in for a treat with the game. But not everyone's picking up what Reddit is putting down.
Some Spyro fans are sceptical

As one fan threatens to s**t themselves if the game doesn't get revealed in October (a bit much), another user added, "Better be near a toilet that day then, buddy. Cynder's inclusion should be a dead giveaway."
Another is concerned about the structure of the game, adding "Separate story modes seem to imply they are ditching the level-based collectathon approach, which is what I loved the most about the original trilogy. Hopefully I'm just misinterpreting things."
Whether Spyro 4 comes or not, the implication is enough. Spyro fans have been hungry, and we might be about to be fed. It's about time. Pun very much intended.
