The Internet Mourns As Smash Bros 'Just Killed Donald And Goofy'

On Tuesday (October 5), Nintendo announced that they’d be partnering with Disney to introduce Sora from Kingdom Hearts as the final champion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The announcement was met with hundreds of happy players, but also shared its equal parts of criticism as well (mostly for the lack of Waluigi), but fans couldn’t help but notice something very important was missing from the announcement.

During the showcase, an image from Kingdom Hearts was shown, and it seemed to be lacking one important element - Sora’s closest BFFs from the game, Goofy and Donald Duck. Of course, the lack of Disney pals feels a little bit alien considering Kingdom Hearts was built on the Disney name, but Nintendo clearly wasn’t going to get FULL access to the beloved long-time characters of the franchise.

Nintendo, instead, chose to incorporate their own dog and duck into the game, which has been dubbed a 'budget' version of the Disney stars.

Sora will be coming to the Nintendo brawler on October 18, and will be the final fighter added to the game series. To use him, players need to download the Fighters Pass Vol.2 expansion, or similarly, you can buy individual expansion characters in-game.

Other characters that can be found inside the Fighters Pass expansion includes Steve/Alex from Minecraft, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7, Pyra/Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Kazuya Mishima from Tekken and Min Min from Arms.

This officially marks the 82nd playable character to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which first landed on Nintendo Switch consoles back in December 2018.
