VALORANT’s first year of conception has been a resounding success, with 14 million players signing in to wage on tactics, skills, and patience. Riot Games’ FPS shooter has captured the imagination of gamers from all corners of the wider community, with flashy skins and an un-experimented skill cap.

With the esports scene also booming, as showcased by the one-million concurrent viewership figures during the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 2 Masters: Reykjavik, many people are excited to see how the game can continue to grow.

The title is also renowned for its highly detailed reactive weapon skins, and the possibility of Fortnite-like collaborations is looming in the back of fans' minds.

However, as content creators such as Imane “Pokimane” Anys have been open to any collabs, FPS legend Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek has disagreed, saying streamer skins won’t work.

Shroud believes VALORANT Streamer Skins won’t work

Despite Shroud showcasing his own weapon skin in the new Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2, he has claimed that a Shroud VALORANT skin is not the way forward.

Admitting that "I’d love a skin," he quickly explained that the streamer model may not be possible for VALORANT. He added "that’s entering dangerous territory. If you plan only to do it for one or two people, that’s fine. But you have to take that stance to the grave. That’s what makes it so challenging.”

“If you’re going to give content creator skins, you give a couple of them, and then you take it to the grave, or you don’t do it at all. Because if you try to do it for everybody, you can’t win. It’s impossible to give it to every person.”

Instead of streamer skins, the content creator believes that VALORANT esports skins and bundles can be the way forward. He argued that bundles supporting the likes of Cloud9 and TSM FTX.

“PUBG certainly tried, and their approach wasn’t bad because they got a lot of content creators in it. But it won’t work in a game like Valorant just because you can’t flood the market that way. It’d be weird.”

Other titles such as Rocket League have adopted this method, and supported players through creator codes. The esports bundle model will certainly be a welcome addition to VALORANT.
