The Bandai Namco marketing team knows exactly what it's doing, and with Elden Ring's supersized DLC just around the corner, that's not the only 'massive' addition coming to Shadow of the Erdtree. If you've got the money, you'll soon be able to nab 18 inches of Messmer the Impaler.

As the long-awaited DLC to 2022's Elden Ring, FromSoftware is once again pushing the boat out with Shadow of the Erdtree. Set to expand the already rich lore of the Lands Between, the poster boy of the DLC is Messmer, the red-haired demigod with a penchant for fire and snakes.

Shadow of the Erdtree Collector's Edition gives you 18 inches of Messmer

Over on the Bandai Namco site, you can pre-order the Shadow of the Erdtree Collector's Edition. Coming in at a hefty $249.99/£224.99, the Collector's Edition isn't cheap. Still, you get plenty of bang for your buck, including the base game, a 40-page physical art book, and the digital soundtrack

Obviously, the main attraction is a girthy 18-inch statue of Messmer the Impaler. He falls just short of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 boasting 19 inches of Venom, but what's an inch between friends? As you can imagine, the replies were soon flooded with some pretty raunchy responses.

One fan said, "Is '18 Inches of [statue]' going to be the way CEs are promoted going forward because I'm down," while another added, "I already have it ordered! I've never been so excited to receive 18 inches 🫡🫡." A third concluded, "I can handle Messmer, not in a fight mind you but you know."

Get your pre-orders in now, because as 18 inches of Messmer goes viral and people want to place him on their shelf, the Collector's Edition is sure to sell out. Shadow of the Erdtree is releasing on June 21, so there's still a bit of a wait.

The DLC got a gameplay reveal in February 2024, and while leaks suggested it would land the same month, we've been left disappointed that June is the date to mark in the calendar. As things heat up with the fiery Messmer, FromSoftware is hoping to deliver an epic continuation up there with Bloodborne's The Old Hunters DLC.
