UPDATE

Microsoft has confirmed that Black Ops 6, the upcoming Gulf War-inspired title developed by Treyarch, will land on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Game Pass owners of Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC will all be able to play Black Ops 6 as part of their subscription when it releases in the fall of this year.

Original article follows:

After months, even years, of deliberation as to what Microsoft will be doing with the Call of Duty series and its subscription-based service for Xbox, it looks like we finally have an answer.

Ever since the Activision acquisition began (sorry to bring up that traumatic saga), Microsoft has never quite settled on what extent to which it will be adding its new titles to Xbox Game Pass, stuck between simply uploading exclusive legacy titles, or whether to hit a home run by adding new AAA games.

Now, it appears that minds have been made up and Black Ops 6 will be the first-ever Call of Duty duty on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is expected to be shown to the world at the Xbox Direct showcase in June, but will first be unveiled with a live-action trailer on May 28.

Ahead of the trailer, Xbox players are now reporting that they have received notifications via Game Pass detailing that Black Ops 6 is landing on the subscription when it launches in the fall.

"Just Announced: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to Game Pass on day one later this year!" the notification reads.

Call of Duty's annual releases are usually penned in for late October (for early access) or early November, where we'll likely see Xbox Game Pass users get access to the title alongside its legacy series friends.

The reported notification for Game Pass comes a mere few hours before the worldwide reveal on YouTube, which will likely confirm the day one addition.

Activision's first AAA game in Diablo IV landed on Game Pass earlier this year, meaning it could be a trend which sees all future Microsoft games land on Game Pass from day one, including the next Elder Scrolls title.
