It’s been a rocky road so far for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, but as the release date creeps closer, Techland is starting to tease new details about the game. In a recent video on the official Dying Light YouTube channel, the game’s Lead Designer spoke to actor Rosario Dawson to talk a little about her character, Lawan.

Who Is Rosario Dawson Playing In Dying Light 2?

In the video, Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektała opened up a little on working with Dawson and what kind of character she'll playing. He mentioned that Rosario Dawson and the character of Lawan were a perfect fit due to the latter’s toughness, confidence, and talent as an actor. The interviewer did bring up the fact that Lawan looked completely different in initial trailers that feature her, but Tymon explained it away: "There is a very easy answer to that. We just wanted to keep it as a surprise."

When asked more about the character, he added that Lawan is very driven and focused on her goals, with a sharp tongue from her fierce attitude and stubborn demeanour. He didn’t spoil too much, but he did allude to her history, explaining that Lawan has been through many bad things that have shaped her for the tough, post-apocalyptic world of Dying Light 2.

An interesting aspect of Dawson's character we can’t wait to see more of is her to-do list. For fans of Game of Thrones, it sounds similar to Arya’s kill list from the series

What Does Rosario Dawson Say About Lawan In Dying Light 2?

In the video, Dawson explained, "I think that this role came my way because Lawan is a very strong character, and she needs to be, she’s gone through a lot." Expanding on her ethos of working as an actor, she elaborated that she tries to bring strength to all her characters - and Lawan is no exception.

She went on further, "And what’s cool about this world, and this game, and this character, is that it is up to you how Lawan actually is strong." This is definitely echoed in the background gameplay footage, that shows Lawan in conflict with the lead character Aiden Caldwell, with her crossbow armed and pointed at him.

Lastly, Dawson talked a little about one of Dying Light 2’s key advertised features, the choice and consequence system that will affect the narrative and game world. "What you do has consequences, your actions have consequences… and I love that, I think that responsibility is awesome."

We agree, Rosario, and the choice-based system could definitely set the title apart from other open-world zombie experiences. Dying Light 2 Stay Human is set to be released on February 4, 2022. The title will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and select PC storefronts.
