Ray Liotta, the actor who made his name as the star of Goodfellas and went on to play the lead in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, has died at the age of 67.

Deadline has heard that he passed in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was making the film Dangerous Waters.

He is yet to appear in what is thought to be his final film role in Elizabeth Banks' Cocaine Bear, and intended to star in the upcoming film The Substance with Demi Moore.

Liotta leaves behind his daughter Karsen, and fiancee Jacy Nittolo.
