Ragnarok Leak Teases Big God Of War News At PS Showcase
It sounds like Kratos is dusting off his Leviathan axe and get ready to butt heads with the God of Thunder in the currently untitled God Of War sequel. A new leak supposedly confirms that Sony's PlayStation Showcase 2021 will feature an exclusive first look at the highly-anticipated game.
Is God of War: Ragnarok coming to the PS showcase?
Sony has continued to keep any information about a trailer for the new God of War game tightly under wraps. However, insider, Nick Baker shared a screenshot of an apparent leak which confirmed that God Of War: Ragnarok will be making an appearance during the showcase. While this might not seem completely reliable, the insider has leaked accurate PlayStation-related news in the past. This includes the date of the showcase itself.
Fans will be able to tune in to the PlayStation showcase on September 9th at 1pm PT, 9pm BST, and 10pm CEST. Viewers can catch a: "A look into the future of PS5", according to Sony's Website. The stream is expected to last 40 minutes and you can watch it from home via YouTube or Twitch.
Although there are a lot of rumours circulating about the event, one thing Sony has confirmed is that "PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time". Still, there will be "plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small."
What do we know about God of War: Ragnarok so far?
Sony first announced the sequel to the incredibly successful 2018's God Of War with a teaser trailer back in September 2020. Although no official title has so far been announced for the game, the little information provided in the teaser has prompted fans to colloquially refer to the game as 'Ragnarok'. As far as we know, players will be able to play on both PS4 and PS5.
Originally set for a 2021 release, the game's developer, Santa Monica Studio (SMS), later issued a statement to fans announcing Ragnarok's release had been delayed. The heartfelt message said that the SMS were continuing to focus: "On developing a top-quality while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our team, creative partners, and families."
Although the move was met with obvious disappointment from fans, others voiced their support following the news: "This was beyond expected, and I'm glad the game is getting more development time." Another said: "Take all the time you need. We will be here and we will experience it when it's ready." Here's hoping Kratos finally gets to swing his axe at the 2021 showcase.
