Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has finally settled in the minds of players after rocking the boat with its immense bugs and glitches at launch. They've mostly been ironed out at this stage, meaning that players can just enjoy their time with the game - and it has become clear that underneath the problems, the games are absolute bangers.

But, new problems have crawled out of the woodwork - and it's perhaps the worst issue that the series has ever encountered.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is wiping players' saves

A devastating new bug is spreading across copies of Scarlet & Violet that is entirely wiping player save games, and as if it couldn't be much worse, there is no singular cause for the problem.

As reported on Reddit, around a dozen people in the PokemonScarletViolet subreddit have reported their games have been corrupted, wiping their game's save files, after pairing with Pokemon Go, a new feature that was revealed during the last Pokemon Presents presentation.

It might seem as though the source has been identified - but others are now reporting that after simply pre-ordering the game's new DLC, their save files are vanishing too.

Nintendo is looking into Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's lost save files

According to the Reddit post that goes on with an update, a representative of Nintendo has supposedly contacted the Reddit user to explain that they are aware of the issue, and are working to have it resolved soon. There are no estimates on timing as it is a pretty unique problem, but a fix is in the works regardless.

It's a pretty bold claim given that players are suffering intense problems from an unidentifiable location - but here's hoping the fix comes soon. After all, without it, players are going to have to rebuild their parties from scratch - and to say goodbye to the Pokemon you love is a fate worse than death.
