With Halloween creeping up on us fairly quickly, it is time to get in the spirit of things and don some spooky costumes in Pokemon GO.

It seems like the Pokemon GO team has taken their job of creating something creepy a bit too seriously and players are divided over the rather unusual costume choices.

The Pokemon GO Halloween costumes are a bit bizarre

Halloween costumes came to Pokemon GO earlier this week and have received a mixed reaction from players.

Reddit user Some-Ostrich-4997 took to the Pokemon GO subreddit to share a picture of their avatar in costume, alongside the question: “I’m sorry but wtf is this?”

The image attached to the post showed an interesting combo of the Cofagrigus Costume, which has some rather creepy hands sticking out of the back of it, with the Yamask Mask, two of the new Halloween items.

In response to the OP’s question, one user wrote: “It's Cofegregious is what it is', making a pun on the word egregious.

Another Reddit user simply wrote: “Nightmare Fuel.”

Not everyone reacted negatively to the costume however, with one user saying “that’s the best thing I’ve seen all day,” and another describing it as “perfection.”

One comment stated that they wished the hands coming out of the back of the costume were a backpack that they could wear with other outfits.

What are the Halloween costume options in Pokemon GO?

There are five different Halloween items available in Pokemon GO, including a Yamask Mask. Cofagrigus Costume, Cofagrigus Head, Phantump Head and a Greavard Wig.

The Cofagrigus Costume costs 400 Coins while all of the other items can be purchased for 200 Coins from the shop.

If you would like to dress up in something with less arms, there are onesies for some Pokemon favourites, including Pikachu, available to purchase for 400 Coins each.
