It's a new day and a new lineup for PlayStation Plus, with Sony rolling out the big guns for the spooky season. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the theme of this month's offerings, with Sony going hard on the Halloween celebrations. With this, it's been dubbed a win for the struggling subscription service.

While the jury is out on whether gaming subscription services work, it's a model that Microsoft is sticking with for Day One releases of its biggest titles, including Halo Infinite and Starfield. Sony has struggled to keep us invested in PlayStation Plus, and despite a revamp, there are accusations it'll never match Xbox's offering.

PlayStation Plus October 2023 lineup is a massive one

On the starting blocks for October 2023's PlayStation Plus, we've got everything from survival horrors to superhero ensembles, dystopian RPGs to interactive dramas. Although the roster was spoiled ahead of time, Sony has now confirmed what you'll be hiding behind the cushion while playing in October.

The big ones are WB Montreal's Gotham Knights and Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation. WB Montreal's Batman game got a frostier reception than Mr. Freeze when it released in 2022, with complaints about glitches and graphics also being overshadowed by the fact it wasn't a continuation of Rocksteady's Arkham games.

As for Alien: Isolation, the sci-fi survival horror has stood the test of time and is rightly held as one of the scariest games of all time. We've pretty much given up on Alien: Isolation 2, but with a renewed interest, who knows what the future holds? After the canning of HYENAS, the Creative Assembly team could return to the IP.

This A-list lineup is polished off by Supermassive Games' The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, Disco Elysium – The Final Cut, Dead Island Definitive Edition, Outlast 2, and more. If that wasn't enough, October sees PS5 Cloud Streaming arrive for PS Plus Premium subscribers.

It hasn't gone unnoticed that Sony has upped its game for Halloween, with many saying it's the best lineup the service has had for a long time. Importantly, it's led to the forgotten Gotham Knights to trend on Twitter, suggesting that a whole new fandom is about to fall in love with WB Montreal's Batman title.

This uptick in quality titles hasn't gone unnoticed, with one fan saying, "Gotham Knights is golden." Another added, "Maybe some people will actually try gotham knights instead of hating on it for no reason," and a third said, "Good spooktober lineup."

In general, PlayStation Plus October has been praised as a massive W. Someone said, "Makes Game Pass look like an utter joke," while another concluded, "This owns Game Pass." Given that critics have said PS Plus isn't worth it when compared to Game Pass, the Blue Team is sure to be happy.
