PlayStation CEO Blasts 'Inadequate' Xbox Proposal For Call Of Duty
Despite Xbox saying that the Call of Duty franchise will always be multi-platform, Sony has claimed they've only been offered three years of CoD action following the expiration of the current deal between the PlayStation owners and Activision, which has now been labelled as 'inadequate'.
The future of the Call of Duty franchise has recently come into question amid the Microsoft and Activision acquisition, giving the Xbox owners complete control of the biggest console shooter game of all time.
Microsoft, though, has insisted that the future of the Call of Duty franchise will remain on PlayStation - at least this is what they're saying publicly.
PlayStation Insist Xbox Has Snubbed Them With Inadequate Call of Duty Deal
It was only last week when Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, publicly announced that future Call of Duty titles will be coming to both Gamepass and PlayStation, but it appears that some fishy deals have been offered behind closed doors.
In response to Spence's statements, PlayStation CEO, Jim Ryan, has now claimed that Xbox only guaranteed "three years" of Call of Duty on their platform.
"Their proposal was inadequate on so many levels and failed to take account of the impact on our gamers," Ryan said.
The news comes shortly after the UK Government launched a Phase 2 investigation into the takeover, in a bid to prevent Microsoft from monopolising the online gaming sphere.
Ryan also added, "We want to guarantee PlayStation gamers continue to have the highest quality Call of Duty experience, and Microsoft's proposal undermines this principle."
It's not quite a concern for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 players, and even those looking forward to the Afghanistan/Iraq-based 2024 instalment by Treyarch, but beyond that, who knows if Sony and Xbox can strike a bargain?
