Do you ever feel like the Grand Theft Auto execs are sitting around a boardroom table, laughing at us? It's been a decade since GTA V revved into our lives, and while we know GTA 6 is out there somewhere, it's starting to feel like we're the ironic butt of some cruel prank - like you might see in the automotive adventure.

There's no point speculating on when GTA 6 will release, because honestly, you could throw darts at a dartboard and be more likely to hit the right date compared to the various leaks and rumours that have flooded Reddit, 4chan, and Twitter. However, one trusted leaker could have a worrying update.

When it comes to having the inside track, Tez2 is thought to be something of an authority on GTA 6. Now, the trusted leaker has a grim update on GTA 6 and where things are up to. Posting on the GTA Forums, Tez2 claims GTA 6 won't be getting a day-one release on PC.

With impatient players hoping for a PC release alongside GTA 6's console launch, Tez2 threw some water on the fire. Typically, GTA's PC releases come after their console counterparts, with Tez2 adding, "Internally, the PC version is more buggy than the console versions."

Despite high hopes we'd enter a new generation with console and PC launching together, Tez2 added, "Rockstar wouldn't want to end up with a 'Star Wars Jedi Survivor' or 'The Last of Us Part 1' PC situation for the most anticipated game." Respawn and Naughty Dog's recent PC ports indeed got something of a lukewarm launch.

There's a glimmer of hope, with Tez2 adding, "It's really all down to technical reasons. If they could release it day 1, they definitely will." A 2015 interview with GameSpot explains the troubles of trying to launch PC Day One, so history could repeat itself.

GTA 6's PC delay could be good...for Rockstar

As noted by others, a PC delay could actually benefit Rockstar in the long run. One wrote, "I have seen a lot of PC gamers say that they will buy a console only to play the game instead of waiting and then buy the PC version when it releases. That way they sell the game twice."

Someone else warned that GTA 6 is being marketed at a Gen 9 release, while not everyone has caught up to this technology. It all depends on whether GTA 6 will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One, and if not, a lot of players will be alienated. A PC release would help boost sales, but we might be disappointed.

Tez2 returned to the thread and concluded, "A year ago, I would've been as optimistic as you in regards to a day one release. But hopefully, it's a delay of a few months." We've heard a lot about a "troubled" development, and with each update, we're starting to worry more about what's tipped to be the biggest game of all time.
