On an obscure site, user Rib has shared lines of code that indicate that The Thousand-Year Door remake offers an opportunity to those with the hardware to set their game to a 4K resolution. The code itself makes reference to the values 2160 and 3840, being the width of a 4K display by pixels.
This might seem like a bit of vague future-proofing, but that's probably what makes this reveal so fascinating. With the next Nintendo home console on the horizon, fans have wondered about its potential to support 4K visuals and whether we'll be able to play our existing Switch games on it.
The Nintendo Switch's successor is yet to receive a full reveal, so it remains to be seen whether that rumoured backward compatibility will arrive as a major selling point.
