Brazillian footballer Neymar Jr has found himself in hot water and being unceremoniously banned from Twitch, with fans questioning when/if the popular streamer will return1. As part of the Paris Saint-Germain football team, Neymar Jr is about as big as they come in the sporting world. With this in mind, his move to Twitch makes him a major name to swap the football pitch for a virtual one.

Neymar has quickly risen up the ranks of Twitch and garnered a huge fanbase in Brazil (where he's from). However, just two months after joining the streaming service, Neymar Jr has been kicked. Twitch doesn't normally reveal why someone has been given the boot - we're looking at you Dr Disrespect - but when it comes to Neymar, some think it's a little clearer.

According to popular Twitch tracker @StreamerBans, Neymar is listed as one of those who's just been banned. A tonne of streamers get banned every day for various reasons, but Neymar's name stands out more than most. Neymar has become known for his streams of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) earning thousands of views. For now, it looks like you'll have to get your CS:GO fix elsewhere.

Some suggested Neymar has been banned due to a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) strike by playing unsolicited music, however, a deeper dive suggests it could be for another reason. In late October, Neymar jokingly shared the phone number of Brazillian teammate and current Everton player, Richarlison. During the stream, Neymar showed his phone - which clearly included Richarlison's phone number. Richarlison even poked fun at this on Twitter when he said he'd received more than 10 thousand messages in a matter of minutes.

Despite the stream taking place on October 18, the reason the ban could've happened now is because it remained up on Neymar's Twitch. Twitch's Community Guidelines make it clear that you can't share someone's personal details on a stream. It's important to note Neymar is still partnered with Twitch, suggesting a seven-day ban is the most likely option.

Twitch had clamped down on DMCA violations recently, so it's entirely possible this was the reason behind Neymar's ban. Thankfully, the new release of FIFA 21 (which stars Neymar) lets you turn music off for a Twitch-friendly stream. Considering Twitch won't reveal why Neymar was banned, we'll just have to wait and see whether he'll be back soon or the quick-footed footballer will have to find somewhere else to stream.
