There are few certainties in life, with death and taxes being the most popularised two. One thing we've certainly become accustomed to is Nintendo's Direct events taking place every September since 2016. Well, it looks like 2021 is no different, as if leaks are to be believed, it will be taking place later this month.

In past shows, the gaming giant has focused on the 3DS, Switch, and Mario, so when it comes to what we can expect this time around - it's pretty exciting stuff.

What Do We Know About Nintendo Direct 2021 So Far?

Unfortunately, not much. There's been no world from the company itself - so we're not expecting an imminent announcement. In years gone by, the date of the Direct has tended to be during the first two weeks of September. With around 11 days (at the time of writing) until midway through the month, there's still time for them to finish off any last-minute preparations.

There are, of course, lots of rumours flying around, and one prominent industry insider, Zippo, has added fuel to the flames.

In a blog post at the end of August, the leaker wrote: "I've been told by multiple sources that Nintendo is preparing a new general Nintendo Direct for next month. This will reportedly focus on their remaining lineup for this year and will give us peeks at early 2022 games,

"I do not know the content of the direct currently, but it's logical to expect final looks at Metroid Dread, Mario Party Superstars, the final Smash character and Advance Wars 1+2."

Is There Any Other Evidence That A Nintendo Direct Is Coming?

Funny you should ask, rumours have also been swirling due to the fact that Monolith Soft's website (those behind Xenoblade) is being taken down for 'maintenance' on September 8, reports NintendoLife. This is particularly interesting as this is the first time this has happened since 2017 (insert sus eyes emoji here).

Could this mean Xenoblade 3? Potentially. Among all of this, there's the obvious idea that we'll get to learn more about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and its release next year. But until we hear from Nintendo themselves, we'll have to take these leaks with a pinch of salt.
