The dollar signs are ringing in Rockstar Games' eyes, as those at the top confirm they still haven't put a price tag on the upcoming GTA V: Expanded & Enhanced. The new-gen port of 2013's GTA V is supposedly on the way this year, but as we edge closer, there's a question mark hanging over its cost.

While the GTA series has gone from strength to strength since its humble top-down original launched in 1997, it was GTA V that blew the competition away - and still continues to. As the most profitable entertainment product of all time, GTA V's six billion means it's well ahead of Avatar's $2.85 billion. Now, Rockstar is back for another slice of the pie.

How Much Will The New-Gen GTA V Cost?

In recent Take-Two earnings calls, CEO Strauss Zelnick was grilled about how much Expanded & Enhanced will cost. We'd previously heard the new-gen version could cost $69.99, but when pushed on it, he told investors that pricing hasn't been discussed yet. Given that the release is supposedly just around the corner, it might be cause for concern.

There were already a few raised eyebrows when we learned that we could be shelling out $69.99 for the game, but imagine if we have to pay more. Last year, it was Zelnick that said he thinks players are "ready" to pay $70 for games - which earned him plenty of backlash. Elsewhere, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan said he thinks £70 is a fair price.

Perhaps the only thing Expanded & Enhanced has going for it is the promise that it will live up to the expanded part of its name. We're told this will be more than just a graphical overhaul, and with chances to add more to the stories of Trevor, Franklin, and Michael, tie into the ongoing GTA Online, or even tease GTA 6, it should be worth whatever we're charged.

When Is The New-Gen GTA V Coming Out?

It's finally been confirmed that the GTA V: Expanded & Enhanced will be coming out on March 15. A new-gen GTA V had been rumoured for months, with original plans suggesting it was supposed to be released last year until COVID-19 scuppered those plans. Thankfully, those whispers of E&E being delayed by months seem to have been hearsay.

In the same call, Zelnick admitted there were "failings" with the maligned GTA Trilogy that released in 2021. A lot rode on the revamp of these old favourites, but with glitch and graphical problems galore, it made the once-lauded company a laughing stock. 2022 is one to mark on the GTA roadmap. As well as the long-awaited announcement of GTA 6, Expanded & Enhanced is set to secure the franchise's future.
