It's no secret that Call of Duty has ditched its military roots and gone down a different path regarding cosmetics. Embracing countless wacky designs, it feels like nothing is off the table anymore in Modern Warfae 3 and Warzone, especially when it comes to collaborations.

Whether it's the humanoid rats, giant gorillas, or celebrity lookalikes, attention-grabbing skins are the strategy for Activision. While sales indicate this is working, Mil-Sim fans have become enraged once again after learning a Rubber Duck skin is coming to multiplayer.

MW3 fans slam "clown show" Rubber Duck Operator

As showcased by the popular Call of Duty account CharlieINTEL, the Rubber Duck Operator is coming and not everyone is particularly pleased.

For some fans, this just shows that CoD is turning into Fortnite and proof the devs have "lost touch with this franchise." The "cartoonish" designs are infuriating those who grew on the strictly military titles of MW2 (2009) and Black Ops I.

"Yep, I think I just play the old Call of Duty since the new CoD is just Fortnite," said one user, with another arguing, "WTF is Call of Duty anymore bro… the glory days of Black Ops 1 and OG MW2 are LONG gone man."

Other MW3 players claim Rubber Duck is the "best skin of all time"

However, there's no denying that these wacky designs and crossover skins sell unbelievably well. There is a market in the community for these Operators and some players are openly excited to purchase Rubber Duck.

"Idk Why people are hating on this skin, it’s sick," said one user, with another claiming, "I can't wait to have flawless skin! Bring on the magic."

Unfortunately for Mil-Sim fans, Call of Duty's new direction has been ridiculously successful from a profit point of view. As a result, it's unlikely the devs are going to pivot anytime soon - so expect more animal skins in the future.
