MW2 and Warzone 2 confirm NBA Crossover with iconic player

Just as Call of Duty did to celebrate the World Cup with Lionel Messi and Neymar Operators, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 appear to have got the hoops bug. To mark the final weeks of the NBA season, the two parties are collaborating.

The NBA 2023 Playoffs are quickly gaining speed, with the conference semi-finals in full swing and the season's Grand Final set to begin on June 1. As a celebration, it seems like a legend of the game is being added into CoD.

Ditching their sweatbands and Nike's for bulletproof vests and cargos, the Call of Duty and NBA collaboration has been revealed, with headline star Kevin Durant coming to MW2.

Kevin Durant headlines Call of Duty NBA crossover

Call of Duty has officially announced the NBA crossover, which is set to arrive later in May, coming to Warzone, MW2, and CoD Mobile.

The teaser trailer shows a high-flying dunker getting above the eight-foot ring with the help of a deployment parachute, armoured up with a helmet and vest.

While the picture doesn't show Durant's face specifically, the Call of Duty Facebook account accidentally uploaded the video under the title "KD_Teaser," and one rooftop sign reads "easy money sniper," which is the infamous slogan of Durant.

This is now Call of Duty's third sports collab in the space of 12 months, given that Vanguard players were able to sport team-coloured NFL jerseys, while football (soccer) fans had their World Cup heroes added as physical Operators too.

The franchise appears to be spending much of its huge marketing budget on pushing this mainstream sports audience into Call of Duty games, which has even evolved to NFL stars featuring in game-testing and pre-launch promotional campaigns. 

Given MW2's taste for water, maybe the next crossover will come in the way of Michael Phelps or Adam Peaty...
